ANNUAL SESSION, 09/07/1847

Meeting held at Boston (Ch1-555):

Grand Chapter opened.

  • It was reported that the missing aprons had been located.
  • Grand Chapter was adjourned until 10/12.

Grand Chapter was reconvened on 10/12/1847.

  • Finance.
  • A report was made on the session of General Grand Chapter.
  • A petition from former members of Thomas Chapter of Worcester to restore its charter and to remove to Fitchburg was received and approved after some discussion.

The meeting elected the officers for the Grand Royal Arch Chapter for the ensuing year, with R. E. Charles W. Moore re-elected Grand High Priest; other officers elected and appointed as noted on Pages ChI-559 and ChI-560.

  • A "Circular to Delinquent Chapters" appears on Page ChI-561:

At a meeting of the Grand Royal Arch Chapter of Massachusetts, on the 12th of October, 1847, it was Voted, that the Grand Secretary be directed to call upon all the delinquent Chapters under this jurisdiction, and request them to forward their returns for the past year, and pay their dues to this Grand Chapter.

In conformity with the above vote, you are requested to send me the return of your Chapter for the past year, and the amount due from the same to the Grand Chapter.

Grand Chapter opened.

  • The Grand High Priest announced the death of R. E. Ruel Baker, Deputy Grand High Priest. A memorial appears on Page ChI-569.
  • A petition from former members of Northampton Chapter of Worcester to restore its charter was received and approved. An endorsement, the text of which appears on ChI-571, was directed to be affixed to its charter.

SPECIAL MEETINGS

SPECIAL MEETING AT BOSTON, 11/16/1847

Held at Mason's Hall, Boston (ChI-562):

Grand Chapter opened.

It was announced that M. E. Robert E. Dunlap of Maine would be in Boston on 11/30, to be installed as General Grand High Priest; accordingly the Grand Chapter voted that

  • The Grand Chapters of Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Hampshire and Maine be informed of the upcoming installation;
  • All Royal Arch Masons and the Grand Lodge officers be invited to attend;
  • "No invited guest be presented with more than one ticket";
  • The Committee on arrangements be "authorized to present the ladies of invited guests with tickets of admission, if they shall deem it expedient";
  • The Grand High Priest be requested to appoint that committee.

SPECIAL MEETING AT BOSTON, 11/16/1847

Held at Mason's Hall, Boston (ChI-563):

Grand Chapter opened.

  • The officers of the Grand Lodge were received and welcomed.
  • Officers of other Grand Chapters were received and welcomed.
  • A committee received M. E. and Reverend Paul Dean, General Grand High Priest, who was invited to assume the East. M. E. Robert Dunlap was then introduced, and installed as General Grand High Priest. Companion Dunlap then made brief remarks.
