REGULAR SESSIONS

ANNUAL SESSION, 09/10/1822

Meeting held at Boston (Ch1-237):

Grand Chapter opened.

• The committee of Finance was read and accepted. A committee on the subject of Franklin Chapter was appointed:

"... all the Chapters, under this jurisdiction, have made regular returns up to Sept. 1821 inclusive, excepting Frank Chapter situated in Greenfield, from which no return has ever been received, but the Grand Treasurer has received from said Franklin Chapter one hundred and eleven dollars, which he has credited the Grand Chapter in a former account. The Committee further report, on this subject, that there has never been received by the Grand Chapter any information of the installation of said Franklin Chapter, although a regular commission was issued for that purpose."

• The committee on the communication from the Grand Chapter of Maine reported, providing details on the various chapters in Maine, and recommending that this Grand Chapter not extend any funds to that Grand Chapter, except money due from Montgomery and Mount Vernon Chapters at the time of the separation.
• The committee "appointed to take into consideration the propriety of modifying one of the duties of Royal Arch Masons, made a verbal report."
• The committee "on the 13th article of the Regulations" was accepted, and the article would be amended "in accordance with the fourth section of the third article of the General Grand Chapter."
• A report was received on the communication from Puerto Rico.
• The Committee on Diplomas reported progress.
• A committee was appointed "to investigate the date of the origin of Royal Arch Masonry to be inserted in the diplomas."
• A report on the Order of High Priesthood was received.
• The dispensation for Thomas Chapter was ordered extended until 06/24/1823 at the request of its officers.
• The Committee on Diplomas was authorized to obtain parchment and have diplomas printed.
• A sum of $60 was appropriated for charity.
• A form for the appointment of proxies was approved; the form appears on Page ChI-243.

The meeting elected the officers for the Grand Royal Arch Chapter for the ensuing year, with M. E. Jonathan Gage unanimously elected Grand High Priest, and other officers elected and appointed as noted on Pages ChI-244 and ChI-245.

STATED MEETING, 12/10/1822

Held at Mason's Hall, Boston (ChI-245):

Grand Chapter opened.

• The committee on diplomas had leave to sit again.
• The committee on dates for Royal Arch diplomas recommended that the same date as Masonry.
• The committee on Franklin Chapter was given leave to sit again.
• The committee on the 14th article of the Regulations was given leave to sit again.
• The blank proxy forms were reported as received.

STATED MEETING, 06/10/1823

Held at Mason's Hall, Boston (ChI-247):

Grand Chapter opened.

• The committee on diplomas had leave to sit again.
• Grand Chapter voted to have notices of future meetings be published in the Columbian Centinel, the Boston Patriot, and the New England Galaxy.
• A petition for Worcester Chapter was received but required "a recommendation in form, from the nearest Chapter, approbating their petition," and that the Grand Chapter should grant the request at that time.
• The committee on the 14th article of the Regulations was given leave to sit again.
• The committee on Franklin Chapter was given leave to sit again.

SPECIAL MEETINGS

SPECIAL MEETING AT PRINCETON, 06/24/1823

Held in Princeton (ChI-250):

Grand Chapter opened and the commission was read.

The Grand Chapter consecrated Thomas Chapter and installed its officers.
