"To the Most Worshipful Grand Master, Wardens, and Members of Grand Lodge:

"For the record I submit the following report on a situation which it is believed is without precedent in the entire history of this Grand Lodge.

"From early on June 1 until late on June 5, by virtue of Section 217 of the Grand Constitutions, as the Senior Past Grand Master, I was called upon to serve as Acting Grand Master because of the absence from the jurisdiction of the Grand Master, the Deputy Grand Master and the Senior and Junior Grand Wardens.

"The situation was also unique in that during my brief term of office the number of our subordinate lodges increased by one new lodge.

"My first official action was to appoint Wor. Chester R. Thomas as Acting Grand Marshal, a position he had previously filled in 1930 when R.W. Louis A. Jones, Deputy Grand Master, was Acting Grand Master.

"My sole official function was to keep a previous commitment to take part in the annual Past Masters' Meeting at Belmont Lodge. As Wor. Bro. Thomas was unavoidably absent, R.W. Herbert Jaynes, Past Senior Grand Warden, officiated as Acting Grand Marshal.

"The hours which I spent at the Temple were pleasantly reminiscent but were scarcely of world shaking importance.

"Respectfully submitted, June 14, 1967 - JOSEPH EARL PERRY Acting Grand Master"
