WHEREAS, Menora Lodge No. 903 of New York, and perhaps others, has departed from the established customs and practices of Freemasonry in the United States by admitting negroes to its membership and

WHEREAS, this departure has caused grave concern and created a strong desire to sever fraternal relations and

WHEREAS, the severing of fraternal relations between Grand Jurisdictions is a serious matter necessitating legislation not to be hastily enacted, therefore

The M.W. Grand Lodge, Free and Accepted Masons of Arkansas, respectfully requests from the M.W. Grand Lodge Free and Accepted Masons of New York, to refrain from the extension and continuation of such a distasteful and unwise departure.

This resolution was duly adopted by the 123rd Annual Communication of the M.W. Grand Lodge, Free and Accepted Masons of Arkansas, on Wednesday, the 18th day of November, 1964, and in testimony thereof the seal of the Grand Lodge of Arkansas is hereby affixed.

Resolution recommended to the Grand Lodge, by the Committee on Foreign Relations:

Resolved that we express to the Grand Lodge of Arkansas Free and Accepted Masons, our regret at the resolution adopted at its Annual Communication on the 18th day of November, 1964, with respect to Menora Lodge No. 903, and perhaps others, of the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of New York; and that we inform the Grand Lodge of Arkansas, Free and Accepted Masons, that we adhere to the ancient Masonic principle of the inviolable sovereign right of every Grand Lodge to order its own affairs when consistent with the Ancient Landmarks, and all other Ancient Masonic Usages, without dictation from another Grand Lodge.
