    • Paul Revere was not the first Master of Rising States Lodge; Rising States was originally called Lodge of St. Andrew, and was changed while still under the jurisdiction of the Massachusetts Grand Lodge (09/02/1784).
    • The Lodge of St. Andrew was not represented at the meeting of the Massachusetts Grand Lodge on March 8, 1777 by its Master (John Symmes) or its Wardens (William Gray and Stephen Bruce); at this meeting the Massachusetts Grand Lodge "declared its independence" by choosing its own Grand Master, Joseph Webb.
    • A series of meetings of the Lodge of St. Andrew led to the "schism" on February 5, 1784, and a lodge with the name St. Andrew was enrolled in Massachusetts Grand Lodge on September 2, 1784 under the name Rising States. This was the lodge that resigned its charter on December 10, 1810.
    • Paul Revere was apparently Treasurer of this lodge, though he did officiate as Master when his son Paul Jr. was raised in February 1785.
