BIOGRAPHY

From Missouri Lodge of Research:

Olaf Lucas was born on a farm near Monmouth, Illinois, August 18, 1861. Judge Lucas spent his boyhood on a farm and attended country schools. He entered Knox College, Galesburg, Il., graduating in 1885, He entered Union College of Law in Chicago, now the Law Department of Northwestern University and graduated in 1887, He came to Kansas City and began practicing law. At the time of his death he was a candidate for re-election for the fourth term of Division 2, of the Circuit Court in Jackson County, Mo.

March 11, 1891, he was married to Miss Daisy Wiles, of Covington, Ky., and they parented as daughter, Virginia Wiles.

Judge Lucas became a Mason in Kansas City Lodge No 220 being initiated January 30, 1893, passed February 27 and raised April 3, 1893. He served as Master in 1897 His first appointment in Grand Lodge was Grand Pursuivant in 1911 and he was elected Grand Master in 1921.

He was greatly interested in the work of the Royal Arch receiving his degrees in Kansas City Chapter No 28 in May and June 1893 and served as High Priest in 1899. He was elected Grand High Priest in 1915. He also belonged to Shekinah Council No 25 Royal and Select Masters in Kansas City and was knighted in Kansas City Commandery No. 10, May 18, 1914.

He received the degrees of the Scottish Rite 4-32 and was very active in the affairs of Ararat Temple, 'AAONMS and served as Potentate in 1923.

He was a regular attendant at Grand Lodge, and at the 1928 annual communication held in St Louis and after offering remarks on a certain subject returned to his seat on the stage and began suffering breathing difficulties and although prompt attention was given he passed to that undissolved lodge September 27, 1928. Funeral services were held in Ivanhoe Masonic Tempe by the Grand Lodge. Active pallbearers were eight Past Grand Masters of the Grand Lodge, burial was in Mt. Moriah Cementery, Kansas City. Date
