REGULAR SESSIONS
ANNUAL SESSION, 09/07/1858
Meeting held at Boston (Ch1-741):
Grand Chapter opened.
The report on the Grand Chapter of Canada was read and accepted.
A new Article for the Grand Regulations regarding the Trustees of Charitable Funds was presented and adopted.
- Finance.
R. E. John McClellan was elected Grand High Priest; other officers elected and appointed as noted on Pages ChI-744 and ChI-745. Installation of Grand Officers followed.
A report was made on the sickness of Companion Stephen Lovell.
A return to the General Grand Royal Arch Chapter appears on Page ChI-747.
STATED MEETING, 12/07/1858
Held at Mason's Hall, Boston (ChI-749):
Grand Chapter opened.
A petition for Berkshire Chapter in Pittsfield was presented, and a dispensation was issued.
A petition for King Solomon (2) Chapter in Enfield was presented, and a dispensation was issued.
A committee was appointed to prepare a memorial for Stephen Lovell, Past Grand High Priest.
- Charity.
The vote to change the mode of work of the Royal Arch Degree passed in 1857 was rescinded.
A resolution was referred to committee, declaring that the Grand Chapter does not recognize the right of a Grand Chapter to withdraw from General Grand Chapter.
A resolution was referred to committee to amend the 15th Article of the General Regulations: "No candidate residing in any town where one or more Chapters are holden under the jurisdiction, without the consent of the High Priest, King and Scribe of each of the Chapters in the town where said candidate resides."
The Grand Chapter was reconvened on 12/08/1858, with the Grand Scribe in the chair.
After an exemplification of the Royal Arch Degree by the Grand Lecture, parts of the work "were severely criticized by companions of the several Chapters, it appearing there was considerable want of uniformity in the work under this jurisdiction."
A committee was appointed to act as a Committee on Work, to "decide on a system of Work and Lectures for this grand jurisdiction." It was also moved and approved that "the three prayers usually made during the ceremony of the seventh degree be discontinued, their use being an innovation on the ancient work of the degree."

Grand Chapter opened.
The amendment to the 15th Article was adopted.
The committee on the relationship between Grand Chapters and the General Grand Chapter presented "a voluminous report", which was tabled until the September communication.
The Grand Chapter voted to relocate to Nassau Hall.
STATED MEETING, 06/08/1859
Held at Nassau Hall, Boston (ChI-758):
Grand Chapter opened.
The committee on the memorial for Stephen Lovell, Past Grand High Priest, was granted further time.
The amendment to the 15th Article was revised very slightly.
A committee was appointed to procure "suitable jewels and aprons" for past Grand Officers, and new regalia as necessary.
The Grand Chapter voted to join Middlesex Lodge for celebration of the Feast of St. John the Baptist.
