ANNUAL SESSION, 09/11/1816

Meeting held at Mason's Hall, Boston (ChI-127):

The Grand Chapter opened.

Grand Chapter voted as follows:

  • To review the accounts of Treasurer and Secretary and fix their compensation.
  • To grant a dispensation for a Chapter in Attleboro.

The committee to locate a place for future meetings of the Grand Chapter was given leave to sit again.

The meeting elected and appointed the following officers for the Grand Royal Arch Chapter for the ensuing year:

  • Andrew L. Sigourney, Grand High Priest
  • Henry Fowle, Deputy Grand High Priest
  • James C. King, Grand King
  • Joseph Brown, Grand Scribe
  • Thomas Jackson, Grand Treasurer
  • John Loring, Grand Secretary
  • Zach. G. Whitman, Grand Marshal
  • Paul Dean, Grand Chaplain
  • Ezekiel Bascom, Grand Chaplain
  • Alpheus Harding, Grand Chaplain
  • James Morse, Grand Chaplain
  • Seth Johnson, Grand Steward
  • Samuel Davis, Grand Steward
  • Benjamin Whitmore, Grand Steward
  • Jonathan G. Johnson, Grand Steward

A committee was appointed to examine the regalia of the Grand Chapter, consisting of Companions Fowle, Whitman and Loring.

STATED MEETING, 12/10/1816

Held at Mason's Hall, Boston (ChI-140):

The Grand Chapter opened.

The Grand Chapter voted:

  • To permit the Committee on Regalia to sit further.
  • To discharge the Committee on censures and expulsions "be discharged, and the subject dismissed.

STATED MEETING, 06/10/1817

Held at Mason's Hall, Boston (ChI-142):

The Grand Chapter opened.

The Grand Chapter voted:

  • To permit the Committee on Regalia to sit further.
  • To grant a dispensation for a Chapter in Springfield.
  • To form a committee to examine "a collection of Masonic songs, &c.", to be published by Comp. Luke Eastman.
  • To form a committee to "report a uniform explanation of the Key to the Royal Arch characters."
  • To form a new committee on fees.
  • To provide a dinner for the next annual session.
  • To form a new committee on the meeting place of Grand Chapter.

SPECIAL MEETINGS

SPECIAL MEETING AT ATTLEBORO, 06/24/1817

Held at "the house of Comp. Balkam", Boston (ChI-144):

The Grand Chapter opened.

The Grand Chapter opened, and received the report on Adoniram Chapter, U. D., of Attleboro, which found the records in order and the members duly proficient. The Committee consisted of Companions Richard Carrique and John J. Loring.)

A procession was then formed to the Meeting House, where the Chapter "was solemnly consecrated and its officers installed in due and ancient form and an instructive and impressive address was delivered by E. and Rev. Comp. Paul Dean."

The Chapter was then closed in due form, and the Companions enjoyed an excellent collation.
