REGULAR SESSIONS

ANNUAL SESSION, 09/12/1809

Meeting held at Mason's Hall, Newburyport (ChI-65):

The Grand Chapter opened.

Grand Chapter voted as follows:

  • To print 500 copies of the "general and particular regulations of this Grand Chapter" and distribute them to Chapters and to other Grand Chapters,
  • To review the accounts of Treasurer and Secretary and fix their compensation.

The meeting elected the following officers for the Grand Royal Arch Chapter for the ensuing year:

  • Oliver Prescott, Grand High Priest
  • William Woart, Grand King
  • Thomas Jackson, Grand Scribe
  • Andrew Sigourney, Grand Treasurer
  • Edward Horsman, Grand Secretary

The following officers were appointed for the coming year:

  • Henry Fowle, Deputy Grand High Priest
  • Henry Purkitt, Grand Chaplain
  • Asa Eaton, Grand Chaplain
  • James Thompson, Grand Chaplain
  • Jacob Perkins, Grand Steward
  • James Locke, Grand Steward
  • Seth Johnson, Grand Steward
  • Josiah Calef, Grand Steward
  • Ebenezer Oliver, Grand Inside Sentinel
  • William Eaton, Grand Tyler
  • Jeremiah Folsom, Grand Tyler

STATED MEETING, 12/12/1809

Held at Mason's Hall, Boston (ChI-67):

The Grand Chapter opened.

Robert Lash, Jr. declined to serve as steward, and Companion Josiah Calef was appointed in his place. Benjamin Russell resigned as Deputy Grand High Priest and was replaced by Henry Fowle.

The Grand Chapter voted:

  • To establish a committee to "draft a form for returns to be made to this Grand Chapter" and to distribute it to the Chapters.
  • To remit fees to any Chapter exalting a clergyman.

STATED MEETING, 06/12/1810

Held at Mason's Hall, Boston (ChI-69):

The Grand Chapter opened.

The Grand Chapter voted:

  • To reduce the price of Diplomas from $2 to $1.
  • To provide a public dinner for the September 1810 annual meeting.
  • That after the next annual meeting, Chapters were to pay $1 per candidate, for diplomas.
  • That to establish a new Chapter, the Grand High Priest could grant a dispensation for twelve months, following which a committee would be appointed to review its suitability. Some information was added as to expenses associated with Charters.
