  • 1887-165: Committee report on the request by Grand Lodge of Federal District of Mexico for recognition. Due to the presence of two Grand Lodges in the Federal District, "it would not be in harmony with the usage of the Grand Lodge of Massachusetts to grant the petition for recognition."
  • 1887-166: Committee appointed to consider the case of Fraternity Lodge in Newtonville; "Grand Master Howland had made earnest efforts" regarding this lodge, which had only paid a minimal fee for the past three years. Three Past Grand Masters (Nickerson, Welch and Dame) were appointed.

Grand Constitutions Amendment Proposals

  • 03/09: 1887-23; Proposal to amend the Grand Constitutions, Part 3, Article 2, Section 1; majority and minority reports submitted. After debate and a rejected amendment, the majority report was adopted (Lodges in the city where a new lodge is to be formed, as well as the District Deputy Grand Master(s) with jurisdiction, must approve its creation, and the Grand Master or Grand Lodge decides to create it.
