The Grand Lodge of Massachusetts was chartered as St. John's Grand Lodge of North America in 1733 by the United Grand Lodge of England. The current Grand Lodge derives from a union of St. John's Grand Lodge and the Massachusetts Grand Lodge, chartered in 1769 by the Grand Lodge of Scotland; this occurred in 1792.
