Kenneth Ralph Blake of Andover was installed the Junior Grand Warden of the Grand Lodge of Masons in Massachusetts in a ceremony at the fraternity’s Boston headquarters on Thursday, December 27th. The Junior Grand Warden is the third highest ranking elected Mason in the state. He will serve for one year.
Raised in Watertown, Blake graduated from Watertown High School. Following high school he attended Bentley College; he subsequently completed his graduate studies at Suffolk University. He is retired from the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston. Blake and his wife, Wanda, have an adult daughter. They belong to Myrtle Baptist Church, Newton.
In 1978 Brother Blake began his Masonic career when he joined Pequossette Lodge in Watertown. He served as the Worshipful Master, or presiding officer, in 1988 and 1989. Since 2008 he has been the Lodge’s Treasurer. He is also a member of The Masters Lodge, Needham, serving as Worshipful Master in 2009 and Treasurer since 2010.
In 1994 and 1995 R.W. Brother Blake was the District Deputy Grand Master of the Brighton Fifth Masonic District.
Blake received the Joseph Warren Medal for Distinguished Service in 2010. Named for the Patriot killed during the Battle of Bunker Hill, Warren was the presiding Grand Master at the time of his death. The medal recognizes exceptional service at the lodge level. It is conferred by the Grand Master on the recommendation of the Lodge Master.
In 1999 he was appointed a Grand Steward by Grand Master Fred K. Bauer. A Grand Steward is the Grand Master’s aide. In 2012 Brother Blake served as a Grand Lecturer. A Grand Lecturer imparts instruction to Lodges, and exemplifies the work and lectures of the different degrees and other ceremonies. He is a member of the Lodge of Instruction Committee.
Active in several Masonic organizations, Blake is a member of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Boston. Between 2008 and 2011, he led the Chapter of Rose Croix, one of four bodies within Scottish Rite, as Most Wise Master. He belongs to the York Rite’s Triad Royal Arch Chapter, Boston Council Royal and Select Master Masons; and, St. Bernard Commandery #12. He is also an Aleppo Shriner, Wilmington. In 2011, Bro. Blake received his 33° at the Annual Meeting of the Supreme Council, 33°, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction of the United States of America.
